Many business energy users could save a large amount of money on their bills by ensuring their boilers are working properly.
Research by the Carbon Trust claimed firms that take simple steps to improve the efficiency of their systems could see expenses fall by 30 per cent, saving UK companies and public sector bodies around £400 million a year.
With heating and hot water accounting for over a third of a typical organisation's energy costs, anything enterprises can do to improve in this area will be hugely beneficial, the study said.
It has therefore issued new guidance recommending companies have their boiler serviced regularly, insulate heating systems effectively and replace old or inefficient items.
Last week, research by Sabien Technology Group found more than half of firms will look to improve their efficiency performance over the next three years.
