Businesses 'missing out' on cheap energy deals - 09/08/2011
Business energy customers could be missing out on cheap gas and electricity deals because energy suppliers' billing systems are too complicated.
According to research by an independent business energy broker, 90 per cent of companies surveyed did not switch suppliers in 2010, while one in three said they have never moved to a different utility company.
Business7.co.uk reported that a quarter of enterprises believe the energy market is not competitive enough, with less than 15 per cent thinking Ofgem has done enough to make the market fairer for businesses.
Director of the broker James Constant commented: "Small businesses are the poor relations of the energy market while every effort is being made to give households encouragement and support, businesses are being left to fend for themselves.
"As a result they face an absolute minefield, which is why so few are venturing into the market."
