E.ON seeks business partners for offshore wind project - 05/04/2011

Business energy users are being invited to work with an energy supplier to deliver green electricity through its offshore wind farm.

Humber Business reports that E.ON is searching for local suppliers as it completes the Humber Gateway renewable energy project, which is set to generate enough power to run 150,000 homes and companies.

It comes after the cheap energy company joined the Renewables Network; a group of more than 100 firms and organisations looking for opportunities in the renewable energy industry.

Matthew Swanwick, project manager for the offshore wind scheme, commented: "We're keen to bring opportunities to the Humber region and as a member of the Renewables Network we hope to build a database of potential suppliers to draw on for the onshore and offshore elements of the construction of the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm."

The Gateway, which will be located eight kilometres off the coast by Spurn Point, was granted planning permission by the government earlier this year.
