Cheap energy efficiency scheme launched in Hertfordshire - 15/06/2010
A cheap energy efficiency scheme has been launched in Hertfordshire to help local residents cut down on their energy bills.
The Special Energy Efficiency Scheme will provide households with grants of up to £500 to go towards the cost of energy saving improvements around the home.
It is hoped that the initiative will help householders reduce their gas and electricity bills and save money from their energy suppliers.
Hertfordshire Council also hopes that the grants will contribute to helping the government's climate change commitment of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 34 per cent by 2020.
Councillor Phil Cutter, Herefordshire Council's energy champion, noted that an increasing number of people are looking for ways to reduce their energy bills as fuel costs continue to increase.
"It is wonderful to be able to help so many households and I hope people will take advantage of this new round of grants, which will not only reduce their fuel bills but will also reduce the impact their activities have on the environment," he said.
