Energy suppliers Scottish Gas create 50 jobs at insulation depot - 20/09/2010

Energy suppliers Scottish Gas have created 50 new full-time jobs in North Lanarkshire, it has emerged.

The positions are at Scottish Gas' new insulation depot in Bellshill, which will service the whole of Scotland amid attempts to help customers improve their cheap energy efficiency, reports BBC News.

Staff will be employed in installing insulation in cavity walls and lofts in homes and firms to help increase domestic and business energy efficiency.

The company said the creation of new jobs would be welcome given the current economic climate and said insulation is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to reduce carbon emissions.

The new insulation depot at North Lanarkshire is the tenth of the twelfth that the energy provider is opening in the UK this year.

Earlier this year, energy suppliers British Gas created 80 new jobs at a similar insulation depot in Reading, the first of 12 that the company will be opening across the UK in the coming months.
