EDF offers help for hard-to-insulate homes - 28/11/2011

Individuals looking for cheap electricity who live in homes that are difficult to keep warm may be able to benefit from a new product from one energy supplier.

EDF has announced it will be offering a high temperature heat pump to consumers concerned about their environmental impact that, unlike low-temperature alternatives, is suitable for homes that are tough to insulate.

Head of energy services at EDF Angus Wilby explained the move is part of the company's commitment to helping consumers cut their energy use and carbon output.

"The High Temperature Air Source Heat Pump offers customers with homes which are difficult to insulate and where heating system upgrades are not viable a great low carbon alternative to a fossil fuel boiler," he stated.

It could also help people who are currently relying on sources such as heating oil or liquid petroleum gas make large savings on their energy bills, Mr Wilby continued.

Recently, it was stated by spokesman for renewable heating system firm SprintBio Andy Cook that there is a growing demand for heat pump technology as people look for efficient ways to keep their home warm.
