Ofgem advises people to switch energy - 07/04/2011

Households have been given advice on how to switch energy and save money from industry watchdog Ofgem as part of its Best Energy Deal scheme. The regulator has teamed up with Citizens Advice to help energy suppliers' customers access the cheapest gas and electricity tariffs. It suggests logging on to a Consumer Focus approved energy comparison site with copies of the most recent utility bills and the annual statement from the current energy supplier to hand in order to see how much can be saved.Ofgem pointed out that energy suppliers might offer discounts if householders switch to both their cheap gas and electricity supplies, or customers might like to opt for a cheap fixed-rate deal to protect themselves against potential future rises in prices.Mark Todd, director of Energyhelpline, has suggested UK consumers might see a second round of energy price hikes later this year as political unrest in the Middle East continues.Make sure you're not paying too much for your energy - compare gas and electricity prices now at energyhelpline.com or call 0800 074 0745.ADNFCR-8000263-ID-19954620-ADNFCR
