The debate around the future of energy should stop focusing on energy suppliers as the "bad guys" and consumers as the "good guys", an energy services company has said.
Writing in the Scotsman, James McCallum of Senergy said it is time the industry "voiced a few home truths" about its role in sustaining the economy for nearly 40 years and providing jobs across the UK.
He argued that we should all accept responsibility to protect the environment and promote sustainable economic growth, while the narrative "needs to shift from an emphasis on supply, where the least environmental impact takes place, to a focus on demand and consumption".
There has been a great deal of criticism of energy suppliers recently over gas and electricity price rises.
