Energy supplier rewards eco credentials - 12/02/2010

Cheap energy bills could be on the cards for one family following the energy saving efforts of seven-year-old Sam Webb.

The child has been named as E.ON's first Power Saver following his efforts to reduce energy consumption not only in his family home but also in the homes of his neighbours.

Sam, of Herne Bay in Kent, will get to be a mascot at the FA Cup final in May following his energy saving efforts.

Taking steps to reduce energy consumption can help consumers to receive cheap energy bills, but other steps can also be taken. Opting to compare energy providers and switch to cheaper options can also help to bring down the cost of the utility bills.

Sam took part in the Power Savers challenge through his school, Briary Primary School. He kept an Energy Saving Diary and took steps to discover where the household could cut back on its overall energy consumption.

The Power Savers challenge forms part of E.ON's Great Saves campaign, which is designed to encourage consumers to make small changes to help them reduce their bills.
