Consumers 'not optimistic' over Budget - 22/03/2012
Many people in the UK may look to perform a price comparison and switch energy provider in order to get cheap electricity, as there is a widespread belief the Budget will not improve household finances.
A survey conducted by Which? revealed 73 per cent of individuals expect to see little or no improvement in their situation over the next 12 months as a result of measures announced by chancellor George Osborne yesterday (March 21st).
Four-fifths of respondents said it has either made no difference or left them with less faith they will be able to meet the cost of everyday essentials such as gas and electricity.
Executive director of Which? Richard Lloyd said the trend of depressed consumer confidence is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
"Our analysis makes grim reading, with the majority of people feeling that things will either stay the same or continue to get worse both for the country and their family over the next year," he said.
Elderly individuals may be among those who are pessimistic about their future, as a recent study by LV= revealed everyday expenses for pensioners have increased by a third since 2000.
