Bristol residents receive advice at energy fair - 17/04/2012

A special event for households who want to go green and make use of renewable energy systems to get cheap electricity has been staged in south-west England.

Subjects such as the Green Deal and home insulation were on the agenda at the first ever Home Energy Fair in Bristol, the Bristol Evening Post reports.

According to Transition Montpelier, the organiser of the event, there was plenty of interest among local residents.

"Over 150 people in this area took part, which was the best per capita response anywhere in the country," said Shiona MacPherson, a director at the group.

She added the event was designed give people trustworthy and practical advice, as visitors would be "less likely to get a hard sell from your neighbours".

This comes after Halifax revealed the cost of owning and running a property has reached its highest level since 2008, which could prompt more consumers to start looking for cheap gas deals and energy-efficient upgrades.
