Energy supplier SSE may have helped thousands of vulnerable people get cheap electricity and gas this year through the Warm Home Discount.
Introduced in April 2011 as part of the coalition's Energy Act, the mandatory scheme is intended to assist low income users and other vulnerable individuals with their energy costs.
SEE had a target of just over 4,800 households for the 2011-12 financial year, but so far, over 60,000 customers have received help from the company.
It also notes that overall, its range of measures to assist people with their domestic energy bills has totalled over £46 million this financial year and aided around 400,000 homes.
Recently, the energy supplier also encouraged customers to take advantage of its free insulation offers, with energy efficiency manager Stephen Millward saying his will help homeowners save money and improve their lifestyles.
