The UK Government has confirmed a brand new £1.3 billion investment for up to 45,000 homes and other eco-friendly infrastructure, which will bring us closer to Britain’s green recovery.

The building of houses is expected to also create around 85,000 new jobs and reduce 65 million kilograms of carbon emissions across England.

The project taking place in Mayfield Park, Manchester, is expected to bring in around 3,200 jobs alone, and will attract more than one million visitors a year.

Housing Secretary, Robert Jenrick, said:

“As we get Britain building we are also laying the foundations for a green economic recovery by investing in vital infrastructure for local communities, creating jobs and building environmentally-friendly homes with a huge £1.3 billion investment announced today.”

The plans surrounding the Green Homes Grant Scheme, which will offer support for home improvements to speed up Britain’s green recovery, has also been announced. Low-income households can have 100% of their improvements covered up to a maximum of £10,000.

Business and Energy Secretary Alok Sharma said:

“Green home improvements will save people money on their energy bills, help to cut carbon emissions, and create new work for many thousands of builders, plumbers and other tradespeople.”

In order for tradespeople to get in on Britain’s green revolution, they must register for TrustMark accreditation. If you’re a tradesperson, you could see yourself helping out with the installation of low-carbon heating, and other various home improvement infrastructure.
