UK Energy Grants Back By The Government 

Cost of living support 

If you’re currently claiming a means-tested benefit, you may be able to get £900. This has been rolled out and everyone eligible should have already received the support spread over three payments. You can report a missing payment here.

Warm home discount 

Energy suppliers with over  50,000 customers are required to help vulnerable people over the colder months. The amount is £150 for the eligible is applied directly to your energy bill between October and March. A voucher will be sent to pre-payment meter customers.

You are eligible for a Warm Home Discount if you currently claim Child/ Working Tax Credits, Housing Benefits, Income Support, Pension Credits or Universal Credits with high energy costs. You may need to apply for this and you should contact your supplier directly.

Disability cost of living support 

On top of the cost of living support payment mentioned above, anyone on qualifying disability benefits may be entitled to an extra £150. This is automatically paid directly to your bank account. 

Winter fuel payment 

Any household with someone born before 24th September 1957 is entitled to the Winter Fuel Payment. This does not impact your entitlement to the Warm Home Discount. This is a payment of up to £600 and the exact amount depends on your circumstances. You can find out more here.

Cold weather payment 

You may be entitled to £25 if the average temperature is 0 degrees Celsius or below for seven days in a row. This is paid automatically (although not in all cases) to anyone who claims pension credit, income support, universal credit and support for mortgage interest. You can check eligibility here.

Energy company obligation (ECO) 

ECO is the main scheme for making energy-efficient improvements to households, such as installing loft insulation and heating enhancements in low-income, vulnerable households. In some instances, it may be possible to get help with replacing an inefficient boiler. Find out more here.
